Construction Process
Here’s what to expect with the construction process in your area and on your property.
The Process, Simplified.
We are proud to bring fiber internet to your community. Here’s a simplified view of what the process looks like, and what you can expect to see in your community and on your property.

Designs & Permits
We’ve already been working behind the scenes to design how we will get our fiber optic network to your community. Our engineers and permitting teams then secure any necessary permits to build before we break ground.

Utility Locating
Our Valley Fiber crews and authorized partners will work with utility locators to mark lines before construction begins. You might notice small flags or colourful spray-painted lines (these are water soluable).

Mainline Construction Started
Our Valley Fiber crews and authorized partners begin digging the mainline ducts in your area.

Permission Gathering
We require your consent before bringing fiber internet from the street to your home or business. Our door-to-door team will be by to get your signature on a BDO (Buried Drop Order). There is typically no charge for this.
Make sure you’ve signed up for updates so we don’t miss you!
Alternatively, you can submit your BDO form online here.

Fiber to Your Home
We will then come back to bury the fiber line to your home or business and connect you to your new Valley Fiber network. We will restore any disturbed areas on your property.
We will then install a small box outside of your home or business where the fiber line terminates and can be brought into your building.

Installation & Activation
Choose the internet, TV and/or phone plan that is right for you online, by phone, or through one of our door-to-door agents. We will then install your home with the equipment you need and answer any other questions you may have.
“We know that projects like these can feel disruptive to your neighbourhood, especially in the peak of a Manitoban summer – but building a fiber internet network for your community is worth it. We will work hard to ensure that we leave your community looking better than we found it, making the process as smooth as possible for you and your neighbours.”
