Cable Plant Maintenance Technician – Thompson (Relocation Bonus Available)

We are looking for a full-time Cable Plant Maintenance Technician to join our team at CommStream. This position reports to the Director of Coax Services.

What You’ll Do:
– Troubleshoot cable TV and internet issues in cable plant infrastructure and replace or repair any faulty equipment found in the plant
– Ability to drive long distances for work related tasks as needed
– Ability to work from heights and climb extension ladders to access equipment
– Design and build plant extensions
– Operate underground cable locate detection equipment
– Perform cable radiofrequency leakage detection
– Do system integrity sweeps to locate system problems
– Operate numerous pieces of test equipment for diagnosing problems
– Wireless work and tower work assistance on an as needed basis
– Other duties as assigned

What You Bring:
– Willing to relocate to Thompson, MB is a requirement of this role
– Prior experience in the telecommunications industry is required (Westman,
Rogers, Shaw, etc)
– Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required (class 5A preferred)
– Previous experience in a troubleshooting role is required
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Basic computer competency is required
– Basic electronic/electrical knowledge is an asset
– Self-motivated and able to complete tasks with little to no supervision
– Experience working in a team environment
– Ability to pay significant attention to detail
– Ability to troubleshoot effectively
– Problem solving skills

Working Conditions:
– Ability to physically lift up to 50 lbs as required
– Working and driving outdoor in all weather conditions
– Ability to work on-call is required (weekends & holidays)
– Ability to walk in rough terrain in order to access infrastructure is required
