Valley Fiber Ltd. is a locally owned and operated technology firm based in Winkler, MB. The ever-growing need for fast and reliable telecommunications has spurred innovation. This innovation has been one of the core passions for the Valley Fiber Development Team. Since 2017, this team has been working on bringing its next generation fiber optic infrastructure to the region and beyond. Valley Fiber is looking for a self-motivated, dependable individual to join our team as a full-time drafting technician. As a member of the Valley Fiber team, you will help develop and design fiber optic distribution within townships and create field databases used for network builds.

What You’ll Do:
– Develop construction and permit drawings
– Prepare allocation files and making revisions
– Assist the designers as required
– Perform technical drafting and engineering design support
– Draft fiber layouts in various communities
– Develop an understanding of proprietary design and software through
hands on training (AutoCAD Maps 2021, Google Earth and QGIS)
– Maintain and update existing as-built drawings

Who You Are:
– A basic knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD, Google Earth, and Excel
– Ability to read and understand engineering drawings is an asset
– Skills required to manage, organize, and lay out CAD drawings
– High school drafting course completion is an asset
– Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
– Valid class 5 drivers license is an asset
– Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills
– Meticulous attention to detail
– Positive attitude with a strong work ethic
– Ability to be a team player
– Self-motivated to meet short deadlines
– Ability to work well under pressure
– Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
– High level of professionalism
– Ability to adapt to changing priorities

Working conditions:

– Ability to work on internal systems for long periods of time
– Ability to work overtime as workload demands
– Ability to visit various job sites as needed
