We are seeking out a full-time Learning & Development Specialist to join our HR team at Valley Fiber. The Learning and Development Specialist will create, develop, implement, and conduct training and development programs for employees. This position will report to the Director of HR.

Who You Are:
• 1-3 years of experience in a learning and development role in a corporate
environment
• College or university degree in any area that builds high-quality
communication skills
• CPHR designation is an asset
Familiarity with various Learning Management standards such as SCORM
• Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program
software
• Experience using digital tools such as a Learning Management System and
an HRMS
• Passionate to partner with leadership to help employees develop and
upskill their capabilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Strong organization skills
• Ability to maintain discretion with highly confidential and sensitive
information
• Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
• Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives
• Ability to design and implement effective learning and development
opportunities for the team
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a
team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with the ability to adapt to
changing priorities

What You’ll Do:
• Assesses training and development needs through survey, interview, focus
group, and communication with team leads and front-line staff
• Include content development, facilitation and authoring
• Create, organize, plan, and present various forms of skills training for
employees
• Develop a skills matrix for the organization
• Create and/or acquire training procedure manuals, guides, and course
materials
• Present training and development programs using various forms and
formats including classroom and online training
• Maintain records of training and development activities, attendance, results
of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements
• Track training expiry dates and re-enroll staff in training as required
• Evaluate program effectiveness through assessment, survey, and feedback
• Maintain knowledge of the latest trends in training and development and
adult learning principles
• Administer tuition reimbursement program for staff
• Create individual development plans for key performing employees
• Perform other related duties as required

Working Conditions:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
