In spring of 2017 Valley Fiber submitted three proposals to the Government of Canada’s Connect to Innovate Program. The program is under the leadership of the Honourable Navdeep Bains Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development.
Today, we are happy to inform you that one of the three submissions has been approved for funding of $10.3 million. It was officially announced this morning at the Millennium Library in Winnipeg.
“We are very excited to be working with the department of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development to deploy the necessary infrastructure in order to raise the internet speed to underserviced areas of southern Manitoba”. – Hank Wall CEO
This project will allow Valley Fiber to connect currently underserved communities with dedicated next generation speeds at affordable rates. This will also allow residents, schools, businesses, and various community hubs within Pembina Valley communities access to enhanced 10Gbps services that has not otherwise been available. This allows the private and public sectors to gain access to fast and reliable internet and transport services while providing them with a much-needed service upgrade providing required access to critical social and economic infrastructure.
